The FESTIVAL CANTELLI ®
celebrates the memory of the great conductor of Novara, precisely through the
vitality of the concerts: a sign of deep esteem and affection that the
Association Amici della Musica expresses alongside the pride of counting
this extraordinary figure among the glories of its town.
Delicate and great is the responsibility of keeping alive and lively the activity of this historic Association, which now belongs to the most beautiful cultural traditions of Novara: it was born in 1946 with the convinced commitment to rebuild the society starting from the beauty of music. The high quality of its concerts, the XXXIX edition of the Festival Cantelli® presents internationally renowned performers who are entrusted with programs of great value.
It opens with a guest of honor, Piero Rattalino, who will
hold a Master-class for piano on October 14th and 15th. In this context,
the Maestro will present his recent volume Recitar Suonando. La didattica
pianistica del Duemila (The piano teaching of the year 2000). These events
are open to the Novara audience, who will thus have the opportunity to
appreciate the world of music through the vast and profound perspective of
one of the most illustrious Italian musical personalities.
On October 15th, the opening of the Festival is entrusted to the extraordinary concert of Ilia Kim, a well-known pianist, who plays a program whose theme, "Love and Death", is declined by Liszt's sensitivity; Maestro Piero Rattalino is the illustrious presenter of the evening, guiding us to listen to.
On November 5th the Filarmonica del Festival Pianistico di Brescia e Bergamo, conducted by Pier Carlo Orizio, with the participation of the pianist Giuseppe Albanese, proposes Malediction and the Concert n. 1 for piano and orchestra by Liszt, and Symphony n. 4 "Renana" by Schumann, among the most exciting creations of romantic music literature.
On November 26th it is the turn of Domenico Nordio, a famous performer who embodies the dual role of violinist and conductor leading the Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi of Venice on an all-Italian musical journey: Casella, Respighi, Vivaldi/Malipiero and Verdi represent on this evening the beauty and the powerful Italian musical tradition known and appreciated worldwide. If this concert is fully dedicated to Italianness, on the evening of December 10th, composers and performers will immerse us in an all-Central European atmosphere: the Ljubljana Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mihail Agafita and with the participation of the violinist Stefan Milenkovich, will perform two famous pages from the romantic season: the Concerto in G minor for violin and orchestra by Max Bruch and Mendelssohn's "Scottish" Symphony.
The XXXIX edition of the Festival Cantelli® closes on Thursday 20 February 2020 with the Carnival Concert: beautiful music immediately becomes a "classic", thus overcoming time and place boundaries. The joy of the Carnival, celebrated in all the styles and periods, is an opportunity for fun for everyone, young and old, women and men, audience and performers. The audience is invited to dress up!
